Deodorant that's homemade? No way! That can't be real. I mean c'mon, I'm just gonna smell right? Well no! I'll admit I had the same reaction at first and get the same reaction everyday when people find out I make my own deodorant. I get stares and I can't just tell they think I'm nuts. But who cares! It's dirt cheap (once you get all the ingredients) and it works WAY better than any store brand I've bought. I've always had to buy 'extra strength' formulas, forking over around $5 a pop. But good bye to blowing my money on deodorant. This works much better and it's better for me. Props to bonzaiaphrodite.com for whipping this up.
Here's the recipe:
Sayward’s Homemade Deodorant Recipe
1/3 cup Corn Starch
1/3 cup Baking Soda
10 drops of Antibacterial Essential Oil (tea tree, lavender, or eucalyptus)
10 drops of Antifungal Essential Oil (tea tree, peppermint, sandalwood, or eucalyptus)
2 tablespoons Vitamin E Oil
3 tablespoons Coconut Oil
Mix everything up in a bowl until it forms a thick paste. Transfer to your storage container and then allow 24 hours to ‘set up’. I used an old deodorant container ’cause it looks so cute and I thought it was neat, but I don’t recommend it. In the future I’ll be using a shallow, wide-mouthed jar, applying the deo with my fingertips.
